Sleep Number Announces Ongoing Support of American Cancer Society’s Hope Lodges
The sleep health leader will furnish Hope Lodges with sleep solutions to provide quality sleep and comfort to cancer patients and their caregivers
MINNEAPOLIS–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Sleep Number Corporation (Nasdaq: SNBR), a company with purpose, announces a new multi-year partnership with the American Cancer Society to benefit cancer patients and caregivers. The sleep health, research and innovation leader will be furnishing the Society’s Hope Lodges with its life-changing 360® smart beds, Sleep Number® bedding and other sleep solutions to provide comforting sleep experiences to patients staying there during their cancer treatment journey.
The thirty American Cancer Society Hope Lodges across the country offer cancer patients and their caregivers a free place to stay when their best option for effective treatment may be in a different city than their home location. The goal is to provide a nurturing, safe, home-like environment where cancer patients can retreat to private rooms or connect with others who are in a similar experience. Many need to stay for extended periods of time and have sleep-related challenges such as regulating their body temperature. Sleep Number’s support will provide patients with higher quality sleep at a time when they need it the most.
“Hope Lodge is a vital resource for many people during cancer treatment. It is a home away from home and a safe habitat solution for both patients and caregivers when needed the most. We want to make sure they benefit from restorative sleep while at the Hope Lodge to support their physical, mental and emotional recovery,” said Shelly Ibach, President and CEO, Sleep Number, and Chair of CEOs Against Cancer – Minnesota. “Supporting Hope Lodge guests with quality sleep is an excellent example of fulfilling Sleep Number’s purpose to improve the health and wellbeing of society. We will do all we can to support these brave individuals as they battle cancer, while we support American Cancer Society’s fight for a world without cancer. Every day without cancer is a blessing.”
“We are so grateful for our partnership with Sleep Number Corporation. Their commitment to our mission will directly help patients and their caregivers who turn to our Hope Lodge program for help while seeking cancer care and treatment,” said CEO American Cancer Society and American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network, Dr. Karen Knudsen, MBA, PhD. “We are excited that our Minneapolis and Rochester Hope Lodge locations will be the first to receive support to ensure the best quality sleep and allow for our patients and caregivers to get the rest they need to focus on getting well.”
Ibach announced Sleep Number’s commitment last evening at the Minnesota Made Gala, an evening to benefit the American Cancer Society. The event took place at Minneapolis’ Quincy Hall and raised more than $430,000 to support operational costs of the Minnesota Hope Lodges in Minneapolis and Rochester, where the multi-year partnership will begin.
