TAMPA, Fla. & BOULDER, Colo.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Outside Interactive, Inc., the world’s leading creator of active lifestyle content, services, events, and experiences, and The IRONMAN Group, the largest producer of endurance events in the world, today announced a five-year partnership to bring exclusive global live and video on demand (VOD) coverage of IRONMAN® 70.3® Triathlon Series events, including the IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship, to Outside through 2026. The broadcast schedule will feature at least 12 events for each of the next five years, including the IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship. Beginning in Oceanside, California on April 3, 2022, 12 events from the IRONMAN 70.3 series will be broadcast live and for free across Outside’s multiple distribution platforms globally on the web, mobile, and connected TV apps.
Additionally, as part of the partnership, FinisherPix, owned by Outside, will continue as the exclusive provider of participant photography and video for all IRONMAN Group events in the Americas, including the IRONMAN World Championship® and IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship. The deal extends a 12-year relationship between FinisherPix and IRONMAN.
“IRONMAN continues to offer some of the most grueling and rewarding events in endurance sports,” said Outside CEO, Robin Thurston. “FinisherPix has provided participant photography to The IRONMAN Group for over 12 years. Now, we’re excited to expand our relationship to become the official broadcast partner of the IRONMAN 70.3 Triathlon globally, putting fans right into the event. The broadcast coverage will highlight the dedication of these athletes as we work towards our mission to inspire people to get outside and pursue their passions.”
Launched in 2006, the IRONMAN 70.3 Triathlon Series, which consists of a 1.2-mile (1.9km) swim, a 56-mile (90km) bike, and a 13.1-mile (21.1km) run, began offering athletes of all backgrounds and abilities a consistent and first-class race experience at a variety of unique and beautiful venues around the world. The IRONMAN 70.3 Triathlon Series continues to grow in locations around the globe each year and has come to embody the spirit, passion, and determination of the athletes who take on these difficult and admired races.
“The partnership with Outside marks a significant next step in extending world-class live triathlon coverage and content to a global audience while also continuing an important relationship with FinisherPix for participant photography and video services,” said President & CEO for The IRONMAN Group, Andrew Messick. “The agreement represents the first step of what we hope will be an important long-term partnership to continue fostering the international growth of triathlon by bringing world-class content to audiences around the world. At the same time, the breadth of the partnership provides our participants at events in the Americas with high-quality photography and video from FinisherPix that captures and showcases their monumental achievements.”
