Former President Donald Trump will be in Chicago on Wednesday for the National Association of Black Journalists’ Convention and Career Fair. Trump is scheduled to take part in a panel at the convention. The session will not be open to the general public. There are expected to be groups protesting outside the Hilton Chicago where the convention is taking place.

Homeless have lower life expectancy

A new report says people experiencing homelessness are likely to have a significantly reduced life expectancy and are more likely to be the victim of a violent assault or homicide. The Illinois Homelessness Morbidity and Mortality report was prepared for the Illinois Department of Public Health by the University of Illinois Chicago School of Public Health. The report, which draws on statewide hospital records and death certificates, was developed as part of an ongoing multi-agency effort by Illinois state government to promote housing access and stability across the state.

Grand American returns to Sparta

One of the premier events in shooting sports has returned to Illinois with the annual Amateur Trapshooting Association’s Grand American Trapshooting Championships at the World Shooting and Recreational Complex in Sparta. The largest and oldest shooting event of its kind, the Grand American features more than 20 events and attracts more than 5,000 competitors and spectators annually. The event, which was first hosted at the World Shooting Complex in 2006, has an estimated economic impact of around $30 million annually.
