Obama to speak Tuesday night at Democratic National Convention

(The Center Square) – Former President Barack Obama, Michelle Obama and Doug Emhoff, the second gentleman, are expected to address the Democratic National Convention on Tuesday.

Obama, a former Chicago resident, said he was glad to be back in the Windy City.

“It’s good to be home in Chicago,” he posted on X. “Looking forward to being at the @DemConvention, and joining so many inspiring people to share what’s at stake in this election – and why @KamalaHarris and @Tim_Walz should be our next President and Vice President.”

Obama made his debut at the DNC two decades ago in 2004 before he beat out Republican nominee John McCain in the 2008 presidential election.

After President Joe Biden dropped out the presidential race in July, he endorsed Kamala Harris for the White House. Harris faces Republican nominee Donald Trump in the Nov. 5 election.
