VIDEO: WA Democratic delegate describes post-Biden ‘excitement,’ policies in 2024 election

(The Center Square) – Jasmine Ines, Washington state delegate to the Democratic National Convention and chair of the executive board of the 11th Legislative District Democrats, spoke with The Center Square Associate Editor Greg Bishop Tuesday from the floor of the DNC in Chicago.

“This is my first convention that I’ve ever been to, so I feel like I’m absorbing it all in; so, just the lay of the land and how all of the different states are set up around I think tells a lot, too, about who their audience is, who they’re trying to reach out to,” she said. “And then getting to mix and mingle has been a lot of fun.”

Of course, there is more serious business to attend to, most notably officially nominating Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic Party’s presidential nominee.

“I love her. I’m so excited that I get to be here and that I got to actually be one of the folks that nominated her tonight,” Ines said. “I think growing up I didn’t have a lot of people that looked like me on the national stage in politics. All the people that I looked up to, that looked like me, were relatives, so it’s cool seeing that progression more in the public eye at the national stage.”
