GOP bill would make it a felony for non-citizens to register to vote

Illinois House Republicans have filed a bill that would make it a felony for any non-citizen to register to vote.

House Bill 5875 says anyone who is not a citizen of the U.S. and knowingly registers would be guilty of a Class 4 felony. It levels the same penalties for anyone who knowingly registers a person to vote who is not a citizen. The measure isn’t expected to advance.

AG releases voter misinformation guide

The 2024 Voter Misinformation Guide has been released that Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul’s office says will help voters identify and report election misinformation generated by artificial intelligence.

Raoul’s office says AI is increasingly being used to create fake but realistic content about the November election and its candidates. Tips to spot AI-generated content include knowing the basics about voting, verifying election information with official sources and being skeptical of images, audio, videos and articles circulating online that elicit an emotional response.

IDOT: Vote for rail improvement project

The Illinois Department of Transportation is encouraging people to vote for the Chicago-to-St. Louis rail improvement projects as the top project in the country. It’s not just national prestige IDOT says is on the line, it’s also $10,000 in prize money the agency said would go to Illinois Operation Lifesaver.

People can vote for the project among 11 others at AmericasTransportationAwards.org, a part of the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials.
