Healthcare Plus Solutions Group Releases Latest Models of Care Insight Survey

PENSACOLA, Fla.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Today, Healthcare Plus Solutions Group (HPSG) announced the launch of its latest Models of Care Insight Study in partnership with Joslin Insight. The latest survey follows a nationwide survey conducted in January 2023 that heard from 3,378 frontline nurses, nurse leaders, and healthcare executives on organizational resistance to change, gaps between workforce ranks, and high-impact care delivery roles. After the release of the results, healthcare leaders requested a follow-up study to learn more about the high-impact roles and to better understand how nurses can work at the top of their licensure while developing leadership traits to improve their change management skills.

“We identified critical gaps between leadership and the frontline in the first Models of Care Insight Study,” said HPSG Co-founder Quint Studer. “We are seeing change management and professional development issues permeating throughout the healthcare ecosystem and are hoping to uncover more data in Part II to help health systems bridge these gaps.”

Data from the first survey revealed 68% of respondents feel their organization is resistant to change. While leaders are investing in their people, efforts are falling short. The survey revealed that 93% of respondents are interested in professional development, while only 38% feel their organization’s offerings are accessible and attractive.

Other gaps persist regarding the awareness and implementation of programs and roles. One example is the use of licensed practical nurses (LPNs), a central topic among healthcare leaders. In the survey, 60% of leaders said they believe frontline nurses would be supportive of their organization adding more LPNs while only 37% of frontline nurses said they are supportive.

The first study revealed numerous gaps but it also identified several care delivery roles with a high impact on improving nurse workload and quality care delivery. These roles – certified nursing assistants (CNAs), charge nurses, and ancillary/auxiliary staff – are the focus of the latest Models of Care Insight Study.

Results of the Models of Care Insight Study Part II survey will be revealed at Healthcare Plus Solutions Group’s 2023 Solutions Summit in Chicago, IL on September 28.

The Models of Care Insight Study Part I was conducted in collaboration with the American Nurses Association (ANA), the American Organization for Nursing Leadership (AONL), and Joslin Insight. Results from the study can be found at www.HealthcarePlusSG.com.
