Expressway shootings down in Chicago

Illinois State Police say Chicago area expressway shootings are down compared to three years ago.

When compared to 2021, the area has seen a 65% reduction in shootings, according to ISP. The number of expressway shootings reached a high of 109 in 2021. In the first six months of this year, there have been 38 shootings.

CDL tests available in Spanish

Those wanting to apply for a commercial driver’s license in Illinois can now take the written test in Spanish. Illinois Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias announced the option he said addresses truck and school bus driver shortages. Study guides for the test have also been translated into Spanish.

Blind drawings for waterfowl hunting

Waterfowl hunters should mark their calendars for upcoming waterfowl blind drawings at several public hunting areas in Illinois.

The Illinois Department of Natural Resources will host traditional blind drawings at various sites. Waterfowl hunters must register in person and must be present at the drawing immediately after the registration period to claim their blind sites.

The drawings will take place July 27 and 28 at various locations around Illinois.
