Police investigate violence on CTA

After a quadruple shooting on a Blue Line train Sunday, a stabbing occurred on a Red Line train Monday. Police said the stabbing occurred following a fight between two passengers, leaving a 37-year-old man in critical condition. Police said there is a suspect in custody in the fatal shootings of four passengers on a train in Forest Park. All four victims were in the same car and appeared to be sleeping when they were shot.

Sheriff’s deputy injured in shoot out after border-crossing chase

A suspect was killed and an Indiana sheriff’s deputy was critically injured in a shootout in Illinois over the weekend. Illinois State Police said Iroquois County police chased an armed suspect with a suspected hostage into Indiana on Sunday. Indiana police then chased the vehicle back into Illinois when the suspect crashed in Sheldon. The suspect got out of his vehicle and exchanged gunfire with police and was shot and killed. The deputy was hit and was transported to the Carle Trauma Center.

Health officials tells Medicaid providers to revalidate enrollment

Providers actively enrolled in the Illinois Medicaid program will need to revalidate their enrollment status to continue providing services to Medicaid customers and bill Medicaid. This federal requirement was temporarily discontinued during the COVID-19 federal public health emergency. The Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services, which administers the Illinois Medicaid program, is resuming that practice effective Tuesday.
