Residents: turn migrant buses around

The call to stop the flow of migrants coming to Illinois is growing louder.

A group of Englewood residents is calling on the city to turn migrant buses around. Held at the Center of Englewood, a group of residents attended what they called a “Stop the Buses” rally.

So far this year, Chicago has welcomed 376 buses filled with migrants from the Texas border.

Catalytic converter thefts down

New data from Bloomington-based State Farm shows that in the first half of this year, catalytic converters thefts in Illinois were down compared to the previous year.

During the first half of 2023, the number of claims in the state was 1,300, a 33% decrease. Despite the decreasing numbers, Illinois is still 3rd in the nation in the number of catalytic converter thefts. Only California and Texas ranked higher.

Illinois ranks top 20 for foliage

A new ranking reveals the best places to see colorful fall foliage around the country, and an Illinois community appears in the top 20.

According to the ranking published by Country Living, the community of Galena placed 16th in the country, making it the best location in the Land of Lincoln to see the changing leaves.

The top spot in the Midwest went to the Upper Peninsula town of Munising, Michigan. The top spot in the country goes to Pioneer Valley, Massachusetts.
