White Sox eye South Loop site for new ballpark

Multiple media outlets report that the Chicago White Sox and developer Related Midwest invited legislators, business leaders and other VIPs on a downtown riverboat tour Monday. The boat docked at the undeveloped, 62-acre South Loop parcel of land called “The 78,” which the team has proposed as the site for a new ballpark to replace Guaranteed Rate Field. The White Sox have played at Guaranteed Rate Field, located on the city’s South Side, since 1991. The team’s lease there runs through 2029.

Big rig crash snarls traffic near Granite City

A crash and fire led to a giant traffic jam on the Chain of Rocks Bridge in Madison County Tuesday evening. The crash occurred on westbound 270 near Granite City. Authorities said no one was killed, but the incident caused traffic issues that lasted until Wednesday morning. Crews from a dozen different agencies responded to the scene. When they arrived, they found a big rig with the trailer and the cab fully engulfed in flames.

Terminex calls Chicago the nation’s sixth most rodent-infested

Chicago has landed in the top ten of another list of the most rodent-infested cities in the country. Terminix looked into which of its 300 branches dispatched the most rodent control services in 2023. The Windy City came in as the 6th most rodent-infested. Orkin has ranked Chicago as the rattiest city in the nation for nine straight years.
