Karnataka Bolstering its Capabilities in Cyber Security with The Centre of Excellence Cyber-verse in Mysuru
Bengaluru/ Mysuru, June 13, 2022: The Centre of Excellence in Cyber Security Cyber-verse, located at Mysuru was inaugurated today at Vikasa Soudha, Bengaluru by Hon’ble Minister Dr Ashwathnarayan, Dept of Electronics IT BT S&T, Higher education, Skill development and entrepreneurship, His Highness Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar, Chairman, Bherunda Foundation, Her Highness Trishika Kumari Wadiyar, Chairman Cyberverse, Mr Sanjeev Gupta, CEO, Karnataka Digital Economy Mission, Mr Kanthararaje Urs, Managing Trustee at MYRA and Director at Cyber-verse, Dr R Ambarish, Dean Myra School of Business, Mr Anand Naidu, Group Captain, Director, Cyberverse & ISAC, and Mr Karthik Verma, CTO, ISAC.
Cyber-verse is a Section-8, not-for-profit organization set up by Bherunda Foundation, ISAC, and MYRA school of business. Karnataka Digital Economy Mission, is supporting in this initiative, with an objective of promoting the Mysuru cluster as a cyber security hub. The Cyber-verse will provide capacity building, training, simulation, and R&D in the cyber security domain to create a talent pool of cybersecurity experts to carve Karnataka as the country’s epicentre for cybersecurity talent, innovation, and research.
The COE Cyber Security Cyber-verse, Mysuru is spread over about 4,000 sq. ft area with a Phygital Lab – that can train 50 students hands-on, in more than 200 cyber-security scenarios and themes related to practical applicability, SOC simulator, Virtual Labs – a cyber-security scenario simulator equipped with more than 500 scenarios, Hyacinth platform – for attack & defence simulation in cyberspace, Malware repository – that includes more than 1.5 million malware available for the start-up ecosystem to test the robustness of their products and services, Policy & research wing – to focus on developing various policies based on cyber security.
Speaking at the inauguration Dr. Ashwath Narayana, Minister for Higher Education; IT & BT, Science & Technology; Skill Development, Entrepreneurship said, “The Royal family of Mysuru has always been at the forefront in giving back to the society and taking development steps for the state and country at large. It is heartening to see that emerging tech areas like cyber security are being taken up by the them at Mysuru, echoing our vision of Beyond Bengaluru. The emerging hub of cyber security – Mysuru, will be serving as a gateway to deep tech to the students, startups, industry and academia. We are confident that this Centre for Excellence in Cyber security at Mysuru will propel Karnataka to become a frontrunner for cyber security services and technologies the world over. “
His Highness Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar, member of the erstwhile royal family said, “Synergizing the efforts of our Bherunda Foundation with the Government of Karnataka’s Beyond Bengaluru initiative, through the Center for Excellence in Cyber Security, we aim to create a sustainable and growth-driving ecosystem, wherein a business can transcend their ideas to reality, and catalyze entrepreneur success. “
Her Highness Trishika Kumari Wadiyar, Chairman Cyberverse said “The Cyber-verse will facilitate in building an innovation ecosystem emanating from the Mysuru cluster with wide reachability, adopting the best global practices. The COE for cyber security at Mysuru will help the state pioneer the Cybersecurity transformation in the country “
Mr. Sanjeev Gupta, CEO, KDEM said “This is a watershed moment for us when one of our Beyond Bengaluru clusters has highlighted innovation capabilities as per global standards. Together with the collaboration of industry leaders, think tanks, and GoK, the Karnataka Digital Economy Mission with a mission of taking industries beyond Bengaluru- through the clusters and developing the Mysuru hub as the key powerhouse for the rapidly evolving cybersecurity landscape.”
About Karnataka Digital Economy Mission (KDEM)
With an objective to increase the share of Digital economy in the state, the Government of Karnataka set up the Karnataka Digital Economy Mission (KDEM), a Section-8 organization, which acts as a knowledge bridge between the industry and the government. To meet the objectives, KDEM has been working towards the five focus areas, viz. IT Products & Services, BPM & GCC promotion; Innovations & Start-ups; ESDM; Beyond Bengaluru; and Talent Accelerator.
The Beyond Bengaluru Program
The Beyond Bengaluru program of KDEM, in particular, is spearheading the objective of proliferating the growth of digital economy in clusters beyond Bangalore. This is done for select identified clusters in the state by developing and facilitating a product-based ecosystem. Building a community of key industry players, entrepreneurs, start-up owners, academia, accelerators, and student community, the Beyond Bengaluru program of KDEM is steering towards getting investments and generating employment in the State.
