Levy Ratner Congratulates Gwynne Wilcox on Appointment to National Labor Relations Board
Former Levy Ratner Senior Partner is the First Black Woman to Serve on the Board
NEW YORK–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Levy Ratner, P.C., announces that Gwynne Wilcox, former senior partner, was appointed to the National Labor Relations Board. Wilcox is the first Black woman to serve on the Board since its inception in 1935.
Wilcox was nominated by President Biden on May 27, 2021, confirmed by the Senate on July 28, 2021 and sworn in on August 4, 2021. Her term will last until August 2023.
The National Labor Relations Board administers the National Labor Relations Act, which includes promoting collective bargaining and protecting workers’ rights to freely express their wishes regarding union representation and take other concerted action for their mutual aid and protection.
Over her 30 plus years at Levy Ratner, Wilcox represented workers and labor unions in collective bargaining, arbitration, litigation and before administrative agencies, including the NLRB. Wilcox served as Associate General Counsel of 1199SEIU United Healthcare Workers East, a 450,000-plus member multi-state health care union. She also served as a labor representative to the New York City Office of Collective Bargaining, which resolves disputes involving municipal labor unions and agencies.

Wilcox ceased her duties at Levy Ratner on August 3, 2021 in order to serve on the National Labor Relations Board.
