Next phase of $337M Neyland Stadium renovations approved by building commission

(The Center Square) – The final phase of $337 million in renovations on the south area of the University of Tennessee Neyland Stadium was approved recently by Tennessee’s State Building Commission.

The $337 million in renovations are Phase 1 of an overhaul at that stadium that includes $123.6 million in renovations complete before last season and $138.6 million for the Concourse 1 expansion, Founders Suites and Concourse 2 expansion, Skybox renovations and an update to the stadium’s Southwest Plaza.

Tennessee is a public university and funding for the renovations come from public funds in the state budget. The budget for Phase 1 increase by $49 million and was approved by the Board of Trustees in 2023.

Peter Ludman of Cope Architecture said that the scope of the renovations “morphed over time” but he expected the building commission presentation to be his last on the project.

Earlier renovations included wifi at the stadium, infrastructure for Concourse 1’s expansion, a new kitchen and commissary, new South Concourse 2 seating, a new North video board plaza, new North and South video boards in 2022 and new West lower bowl seating.

Ludman also highlighted the new West Field Club, saying there is a waiting list to get seats in the area.
