Nurse-Led COVID-19 Vaccine Confidence Advisory Committee Announced
National Nurse-Led Care Consortium launches committee to help inform and address confidence in COVID-19 vaccine
PHILADELPHIA–(BUSINESS WIRE)–The National Nurse-Led Care Consortium (NNCC), a Public Health Management Corporation subsidiary, is proud to announce the launch and ongoing efforts of its Vaccine Confidence Advisory Committee (VCAC). The VCAC is a key component of NNCC’s Nurse-Led COVID-19 Vaccine Confidence Project, a partnership with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
The 20 VCAC members were selected from a pool of more than 140 applicants across the U.S. and reflect diversity across nursing roles, healthcare settings, and populations served. Since the creation of the committee in April 2021, members have served a critical role in identifying vaccine knowledge gaps and informing the development and adaptation of COVID-19 vaccine guidance, tools, and best practices that consider the needs of nurses working in community settings with vulnerable populations.
“Since the beginning of the pandemic, nurses have served on the frontlines of care working tirelessly to keep the most vulnerable in our communities safe and healthy,” said Kristine Gonnella, Senior Director of Strategic Initiatives at NNCC. “The VCAC brings together nurses from a wide spectrum of healthcare settings to share their experiences and adapt best practices with the goal of improving health equity through nurse-led care.”
Through their collective knowledge of public health, nursing, and safety net healthcare, the VCAC aims to lift up the voices of under-represented communities, including communities of color, individuals with disabilities, and other special populations, and raise awareness to the barriers around equitable vaccine education and access. These issues are highlighted through NNCC’s continuous development of resources including a six-part podcast series, online trainings, and an upcoming national media campaign aimed to improve vaccine confidence.
