Solve for Tomorrow Season 2 Winners: Moving Towards Becoming the Entrepreneurs of Tomorrow
It was October 2023, when three young teams from three different corners of the country won Samsung Solve for Tomorrow Season 2, Samsung’s youth education and innovation competition. Six months later, all seven members from three teams are on a journey of growth and excellence to become the entrepreneurs of tomorrow.
The winning teams, NIT Surat, which developed an automated beach-cleaning robot called Sweep; Stemly, which developed a conversational AI tool to help women choose STEM and Think, which built a personal cooling device called ‘Kavach’ for those who work outdoors. The three teams received a total prize money of INR 1.5 crore to further improve their ideas and turn them into reality.
Team, NIT Surat, Team Stemly and Team Think are working towards turning their ideas into full-fledged products that can transform lives but also, they are keeping their progress in check by participating in more competitions all across the country.
Mukkabir Rahman from Team Think has achieved a selection as an Emergent Venture Fellow at George Mason University in the USA. (Launched in 2018, Emergent Ventures is a fellowship and grant program that empowers entrepreneurs with groundbreaking, scalable ideas aimed at meaningfully improving society.
Additionally, Team Think also reached the finals in the Global Student Entrepreneur Award competitions held in Bangalore, Odisha, and Delhi. During these events, we they the valuable opportunity to pitch our innovative concepts to entrepreneurs.
“The experience was enriching, and we received insightful feedback that further fueled our passion for creating positive societal impact through our initiatives. Samsung Solve for Tomorrow prepared us in a way that we are able to present and pitch in front of the best of entrepreneurs”, said Mukkabir.
Team NIT Surat participated in India’s largest Robotic competition GUJCOST Robofest 3.0 and cleared all the initial stages reaching to the finals. They won a prize of 2.5 Lakhs in Finale in others category. There they demonstrated the working of their prototype in front of jury including various renowned personalities of tech domain from IITs & NITs.
Gujarat Council on Science and Technology (GUJCOST) has ROBOFEST-GUJARAT 3.0 programme for the students to encourage their ideas and innovation as well as to engage with more and more students.
The team has also cleared initial stages of Apogee Techfest of Bits Pilani and Technex, Techfest of IIT BHU.
“After Samsung Solve for Tomorrow, our team has become omnipresent. We are a part of every competition and tech fest because we want constantly working on building our own brand”, said Harshil from team NIT Surat.
Team Stemly is the solo endeavor of Yash Yadav from Nagpur, Maharashtra. A socially conscious youngster, Yash, seeks to tackle the stereotypes and gender bias in STEM sciences. He is working to reduce the gender gap and expose more women to opportunities in STEM with his conversational AI under the ‘Education and Learning’ theme of Solve For Tomorrow season 2.
After winning Solve for Tomorrow, Yash Yadav has been meeting industry experts, AI professionals and discussing project for refining the idea to make it more impactful.
He is looking out for more suggestions and guidance from industry experts to understand the market trends and how to scale his product on a medium and vast scale.
“No matter how hard working I am or serious about my innovations but I am still in school. I am about to finish school in just a few months. The huge change that Samsung Solve for Tomorrow has bought in my innovation journey is that now industry experts take me seriously when I meet them for their guidance”, said Yash.
“After winning the program, I feel more confident in my journey as an entrepreneur”, added Yash.
