Swanson-Rivenbark of Best Practice Cities Selected Baldrige National Board Examiner for Third Year

CORAL GABLES, Fla.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–For the third year in a row, Cathy Swanson-Rivenbark, President of Best Practice Cities, LLC, has been appointed to the National Board of Examiners for the Malcolm Baldrige Award. The Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award is the nation’s highest recognition for organizational performance excellence through innovation, engagement and strategic improvement. When warranted, the Baldrige Award may be presented annually in six national categories: health care, manufacturing, education, service, small business and non-profit (including local government). Detailed submissions are evaluated based on leadership; strategy; customers; measurement; workforce; operations; and results. Despite the challenges associated with the global pandemic, five organizations won the coveted 2020 Baldrige Awards for Performance Excellence. The 2020 winners were: AARP; Elevations Credit Union (the first two-time recipient in the non-profit category); GBMC HealthCare System; MESA (a three time winner), and Wellstar Paulding Hospital. (MESA won in 2006, 2012 and now in 2020 demonstrating three decades of sustained excellence and affirming the Baldrige criteria’s staying power as a proven indicator of performance excellence.)

A local government sector expert, Swanson-Rivenbark is believed to be the only National Board Examiner credentialed in city management (ICMA-CM), urban planning (AICP) and economic development (CEcD). The three certifications confirm an unwavering commitment to life-long learning, best practice performance and professional ethics. Swanson-Rivenbark’s firm advises local government and non-profits on transformational government, strategic planning, workforce engagement and performance excellence. “It’s exciting to see how the highly acclaimed Baldrige Framework effectively guides organizations on their high performance journeys irrespective of industry or size.” Swanson-Rivenbark’s firm is a team of high energy, high integrity, high performance industry leaders assembled to help local governments serve and excel with sustained results. Before forming Best Practice Cities, Swanson-Rivenbark was an accomplished City Manager in two Southeast Florida cities and a 35 year leader in local government excellence.
