VIDEO: Washington GOP candidate at RNC talks Trump, ballot initiatives

(The Center Square) – Jolie Lansdowne, Washington state delegate to the GOP and candidate for state representative, spoke to The Center Square Associate Editor Greg Bishop Wednesday about the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump, politics in Washington, the three ballot initiatives to be decided this November and more.

The interview was conducted on the floor of the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee.

Lansdowne, who will face Democratic incumbent Rep. Joe Fitzgibbon in November, told The Center Square that Trump’s near death experience created an overwhelming sense of trauma and thankfulness that he’s well. She said the event has not had much of an effect on how she and others in Washington are campaigning, but there has been more party unity in the state dealing with many local issues.

“Washington is a beautiful state. Seattle is a beautiful place to live, and we have some pretty concerning circumstances now,” she said. “We’re seeing that draw people out who maybe wouldn’t have voted before.”

With Democrats controlling both chambers of the legislature, Lansdowne said keeping the majority party from super majorities was the reason she got into the race.
