Weatherby Healthcare Receives Job Development Investment Grant from North Carolina

Healthcare staffing company will move from Durham to Raleigh, plans to add 155 local jobs

RALEIGH, N.C.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Weatherby Healthcare has received a Job Development Investment Grant from the state of North Carolina, Governor Roy Cooper announced today. The medical staffing company plans to move its in-state operations from Durham to Raleigh and will add 155 jobs while investing $7.6 million to expand its operations in the state.

Weatherby, a subsidiary of CHG Healthcare, has been a leader in physician staffing solutions for rural communities for over 45 years. As a full-service staffing agency, Weatherby collaborates with medical practices, hospitals, and healthcare facilities to manage short-term contracts – called locum tenens – for healthcare professionals, ensuring seamless coverage during training, vacations, or medical leave. Weatherby’s comprehensive services cover every aspect of physician placement, including housing, travel arrangements, and licensing and credentialing requirements. With a commitment to delivering uninterrupted patient care, Weatherby has established itself as one of the largest physician staffing firms in the United States.

“We’re thrilled to partner with the governor’s office on this project, which will not only give our current employees a vibrant, new, state-of-the-art workspace, but also allow us to continue to grow and bring more high-paying jobs to the great state of North Carolina,” said Michael Depaolis, Senior Vice President of Sales for Weatherby. “We pride ourselves on being a great place to work, and we’re excited to share our award-winning, people-centric culture with the state’s top talent.”

The new office space in Raleigh will allow Weatherby to add up to 155 high-paying jobs, primarily in sales, to the Wake County economy. Weatherby could receive up to $1,812,000 over the course of the 12-year term of the grant, with the project expected to grow the state’s economy by $433.5 million. The grant comes from the state’s Economic Investment Committee. State payments are issued only after the departments of Commerce and Revenue verify that the company has successfully achieved its incremental job creation and investment targets.

“Weatherby has made a great decision to reinvest in North Carolina,” said North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper. “Wake County sits in the heart of our state and is the home of an international airport and a highly educated workforce, making it an ideal location for corporate businesses.”

Existing Weatherby employees will enjoy the perks of the new space as well, with covered parking, collaboration space, refresh nooks, a game room, and nearby shopping, dining and fitness options.
