Wisconsin sees another record month of employment in September

(The Center Square) – Wisconsin saw another record month of employment with nearly 3.1 million employed in the state, increasing 7,700 from August’s record numbers.

The state’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate remained at 2.9% compared to the national rate of 4.1% and the labor force participation rate is 65.6% compared to the national rate of 62.7%.

“Wisconsin seems to be in a strong situation into the end of 2024 and into 2025 and a lot of the federal numbers that have come out this week are pretty positive on retail sales and unemployment on the national level,” said Dennis Winters, chief economist of the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development. “Everything is looking pretty healthy and pretty strong as we’re moving forward.”

The state’s labor force increased by 1,300 year over year.

Total nonfarm jobs decreased 4,000 over the month and increased 30,800 over the year.
